Last week the Gary Sinise Foundation dedicated a home to SFC Michael Schlitz, a veteran wounded in Iraq. In 2007, Schlitz was doing a basic road clearing mission in Baghdad when two artillery shells attached to a propane tank went off, resulting in life-threatening burns and the loss of both arms. The home will be used by Michael and his mother, his primary caretaker, giving them both greater independence. Photos from the ceremony can be viewed on the Gary Sinise Foundation Facebook page and you can read more about and foundation and OmniMount’s involvement on this earlier blog. Joel Berrettini and OmniMount’s Betsey Banker
Joel Berrettini, integrator at IT & Media Solutions, recently found himself drawn to the work of the Gary Sinise Foundation, an organization whose mission is to serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. When Joel reached out to OmniMount and asked if we would like to be a part of creating a smart home for a wounded Marine, we we’re immediately on board. It’s a wonderful story and we’re so happy that CE Pro shared it. OmniMount supports the efforts of the Gary Sinise Foundation and and it means a lot to us that we were able to be a part of this project.
